The international ensemble known as Daraja ( Swahili for "stepping stone" or "bridge") is a fusion of jazz, african and latin rythmns, and african vocal stylings. Songs are written in African languages and English.
Daraja is made up of musicians from the North American, South American, European and African continents. Daraja is also acoustic, electric and contemporary with it's influences coming from many corners of the globe including, Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, East and South Africa and the jazz of North America. This ensemble creates a fascinating dialogue between east and west, modern and traditional, showcasing a unique soulful blend while exploring the musical links between Mother Africa and the New World.
